Tewksbury Habitat Build (THB) began work as a small group of members at Tewksbury Congregational Church in 2014 and quickly grew to include members from all corners of the Tewksbury community, incorporating in 2015 as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Since those early days, THB has focused on building strong relationships with the Town of Tewksbury, local faith organizations, local businesses, and other local and regional non-profits.
Initially, THB served as a sponsor of a Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell (HfHGL) Build on State Street (Completed in 2015). After that project, the organization submitted a response to a public RFP process for 2.87 acres on South Street. Working with HfHGL, THB subdivided the lot into 3 lots. THB maintained ownership of the original home and led a renovation process that was completed in June of 2018. Concurrently, HfHGL constructed a home on one of the subdivided lots.
THB has formed a new partnership with the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center and the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School to construct a single family home on the final lot on South Street to be made available to a veteran and their family.
While the South Street project was underway, THB also acquired a piece of land on Main Street. This property will be developed in partnership with Veterans Northeast Outreach Center into a 10-16 unit veterans' housing project.
